Material Packaging Standards

When providing print materials directly to us, please ensure your supplier adheres to the following methods and standards for packaging to avoid damage, errors or handling surcharges when we process the materials.

Brick-piling

In the first row, place bundles of material lengthwise along the length or the pallet. The entire pallet must be covered by bundles of material. The center of the pallet must not be left empty.

In the second row, place bundles of material lengthwise along the width of the container. Continue alternating the direction of the bundles in each row to ensure bundles maintain an even surface and to ensure the load remains stable during handling.

Print material containing multiple versions must be packaged onto separate skids where the volume permits. Where the volume does not permit skidding, boxes are to be used.

Bundle in equal height batches and paper band if possible. When boxing materials, ensure an equal quantity per box weighing no more than 50lbs per box.

Ensure the correct size of box is used for the packaged material. Do not use an oversized or undersized box.

Materials should be packaged to limit curling or damaging of materials. Do not overpack boxes. Alternate the direction of the bundles in each row to maintain an even surface and ensure stability during shipping.

Materials that do not require further processing or addressing (postcards, self-mailers) are an exception from the general guidelines. PO instructions will advise to bundle and box these materials in equal quantities weighing no more than 50lbs per box.

Packing slips are mandatory for all received materials. Failure to provide a packing slip may result in rejection of materials or an inventory stocking surcharge.

Mandatory packing slips details include total quantity, quantity by version, item and version descriptor, and shipper details.

When boxes are used each box should be labelled with the quantity per box and an item/version descriptor.
